Modi's Israel Visit: Abandoning India's Solidarity with Palestine and Reinforcement of Hindutva-Zionist Fascist Nexus!

Indian prime minister Modi's Israel visit, that too in the context of the consecutive cancellation of Netanyahu's four scheduled India visits - three in 2025 and one in 2026 - is the last nail in the coffin of India's erstwhile solidarity with the Palestinian cause. At a time when Netanyahu and his cabinet colleagues, being designated as war-criminals by the International Criminal Court, are on arrest warrants and denied entry by many countries for committing genocide on Palestinians, Modi's address to the Israeli Knesset, has become all the more contemptible. Of course, as a manifestation of the unholy alliance between far-right Hindutva fascism and neo-Zionism, Modi is the only Indian prime minister to visit Israel - first in July 2017 and now, even addressing Israeli parliament. No doubt, while the common ideological basis of this Sanghi-Zionist nexus is anti-Muslimness or Islamophobia, its material or economic basis is the strategic bilateral deals pertaining to a whole set of surveillance infrastructure, military technologies and trade deals coupled with the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) which connects both Mudra and Hazira ports operated by Adani, India's leading crony capitalist and Modi's closest friend. The ground for this was already laid down during the September 2025 India visit by far-right neo-Zionist Israeli finance minister Smotrich, who is notorious for saying that starving the Palestinians in Gaza is "justified and moral".

Meanwhile, totally sidelining the ongoing Zionist genocide against the Palestinians - since 7 October 2023 alone around a hundred thousand people have been slaughtered in Gaza including the burying of about 10000 Palestinians under the rubble - and devastating Zionist criminalities, Modi had no qualms to defend Israel and extending India's enduring support to Netanyahu regime, while addressing Knesset amid standing ovation from Zionists. He termed the Hamas-led resistance force as "barbaric", saying that "no cause can justify the murder of of civilians" and thus camouflaging the Zionist horrors committed on Palestinians. Among other things, he said precisely thus: "I also carry with me the deepest condolences of the people of India for every life lost and for every family whose world was shattered in the barbaric terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7." In the same vein, Modi also highlighted India's support to the US-led Board of Peace in Gaza, under the cover of which, as per latest reports, US imperialism is planning to build a 5000-person military base in Gaza as an operating base for future International Stabilization Force, that's envisioned as part of the Board of Peace chaired by Trump.

Obviously, under the Modi regime led by BJP, the political tool of RSS, India has been moving away from its historical solidarity with Palestine, which is rooted in India's anti-colonial struggle, a position consistently upheld by India till the end of the Cold War. Mahatma Gandhi, 'Father of the Nation' was vehemently opposed to the US-UK super-imposition of Israel over Palestine. However, India's consistent support for Palestine Liberation was diluted in the post Cold War neoliberal period, more specifically since 1992 when India established diplomatic relations with Israel. This was in the context of Hindutva's growing ideological-political grip over the Indian State as manifested through the Demolition of Babri Masjid in the same year. In fact, Modi's visit to Israel in 2017 was part of the Sanghi-Zionist celebration of the Silver Jubilee of establishing diplomatic relations between India and Israel. Today Modi is again visiting Israel and even addressing the Knesset, as part of reinforcing the Hindutva-Zionist ideological alliance on the one hand, and strengthening all-round strategic, military (India is now one of the largest importers of Israeli arms and ammunitions), and economic relations with the Zionist regime on the other. Its dimensions are linked with the ascendance of global neofascism, Modi regime's intensifying dependence on Trumpism, and of course, emerging revelations connected with Epstein files, etc.

Modi's Israel visit is also at a critical juncture when the US-Zionist instigated geopolitical tensions in West Asia are at its zenith. While reports on Netanyahu's pressure on Trump to attack Iran are coming in, Trump's concrete plans regarding this are not yet in the public domain. However, if an attack on Iran takes place, it will not be confined as a local war; rather it has the potential of developing into a full-fledged war encompassing many countries in the region and even outsiders, paving the way for a war even among imperialist. On the eve of Modi's Israel visit, India has issued an urgent advisory for over 10000 Indian citizens including students in Iran to leave the country with immediate effect using all available transportation facilities. Of course, this too is the direct outcome of US imperialist efforts to use Israel as its military outpost for ensuring total hold over the entire West Asia. Far-right Evangelical Christians and Christian Zionists from US are giving new interpretations for this expansionist role for Israel. A typical instance is the US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee who, in violation of International Law, has given a Biblical/theological justification for a "Greater Israel" from the Nile in Egypt to Euphrates in Iraq. And, in the same vein, ahead of Modi's visit, Netanyahu himself has unveiled a proposal for a new "hexagon of alliance" with India as a central partner for countering two destabilising forces, viz., "radical Shia axis" and "radical Sunni axis". Obviously, this will be heartwarming to the Islamophobic Indian regime which is engaged in disenfranchising and denying citizenship to Muslims.

To be precise, until recently, the Modi government has been keeping a veil in its relations with Israel. And, it has been pursuing a policy of balancing in its relations with Israel on the one hand, and West Asian countries including Iran on the other. However, as the maddening pace towards an anti-Muslim, majoritarian Hindu Rashtra becomes more aggressive in the domestic front, the Indian regime is removing the veil over its relationship with Israel. The outcome of this policy shift is now manifested in an open, unholy bonhomie with the Zionist regime and a high-level strategic partnership with it under the patronage of Trumpism. Today, the shared ideological foundation of the US-Zionist-Hindutva alliance is the perception that Islam and "jihad" are the common threats. Now the security, surveillance and even external military policies of Indian regime mirror as a text-book copy of what Zionists are practicing on the Palestinians and in the Middle East. Modi's Israel visit and his speech specifically weaponising the Hamas attack and total sidelining of the Zionist horrors and genocide unleashed on Palestinians reflect a further strengthening of the far-right, neofascist and Islamophobic US-Zionist-Hindutva evil axis!
