CPS REJECTS MSWATI’S CELEBRATION OF HIS 40-YEAR TENURE OF ABSOLUTE MONARCHY IN SWAZILAND
27 February 2026:- The Communist Party of Swaziland (CPS) rejects the celebration of 40 years of Mswati rule, which represents the most egregious manifestation of absolute monarchy and the tinkhundla capitalism and dictatorship. We firmly call upon the oppressed masses of Swaziland and the international solidarity movement to stand united in denouncing these jubilations that celebrate political crimes, human rights violations, and anti-democratic governance.
For four decades of Mswati’s tenure of absolute power, the tinkhundla system has perpetuated one of Africa’s most repressive political regimes. The system has ruthlessly maintained the systematically dismantling of democratic institutions, suppressed freedom of expression, criminalized political opposition, and maintained an iron grip on power through violence, intimidation, and authoritarian control.
The tinkhundla system (an absolute monarchy), has proven to be nothing more than an imperialist project of a sophisticated mechanism of control that allows the monarchy to maintain absolute power while presenting a facade of democratic participation.
This system and power to be celebrated has; eliminated genuine democratic representation by banning political parties and restricting political freedoms in 1973 and Mswati inherited in 1986. The system concentrated wealth and power in the hands of the royal family and their cronies; exploited the working class through low wages, poor working conditions, and denial of basic labour rights; denied citizens fundamental freedoms of assembly, association, and expression, perpetuated economic inequality and poverty affecting the majority of the population and suppressed independent media and civil society organizations.
Mswati and his tinkhundla regime have orchestrated these celebrations by extending invitations to international ‘dignitaries’, foreign governments, and international organizations. These invited guests are not innocent observers, they are complicit beneficiaries of the cruel and oppressive rule that has devastated our nation.
Those attending these celebrations share similar interests with Mswati. They have; economically benefited from exploitative trade relationships and investment deals that enrich foreign corporations and the ruling elite while impoverishing Swazi workers, politically supported the tinkhundla dictatorship through diplomatic recognition and international legitimacy, facilitated human rights abuses by remaining silent on documented violations of freedom of speech, assembly, and association, enabled authoritarian governance through military and security cooperation, profited from the suffering of the Swazi people through neo-colonial economic arrangements.
These international forces represent imperialist powers and their allies who have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo of oppression and exploitation in Swaziland.
The past four decades of Mswati’s rule have inflicted immeasurable damage on our population. Economic devastation has produced widespread poverty affecting the majority of the population, unemployment and underemployment of youth, inadequate wages and poor working conditions, limited access to quality education and healthcare and the concentration of wealth in the hands of the royal family and their associates.
Political repression has systematically suppressed political mobilisation and dissent, criminalising of strikes and trade unions. Arbitrary detention, extra judicial killings with impunity and torture of political activists is common practice to deny fundamental democratic rights and freedoms, manipulation of elections and democratic processes to coat the dictatorship.
Social suffering is demonstrated by the population size that has not grown for the last 40 years even with a birth rates that qualify a population that should have already be three times the present size. High rates of HIV/AIDS and inadequate healthcare response to curable diseases is a cause to the population slash. Gender-based violence and discrimination entrenched in feudalism and capitalism principles. Child labour and exploitation is culturally defended and forcefully implemented. Displacement and land dispossession are common practice to contain the rural population and psychological trauma inflicted by four decades of Mswati authoritarian rule.
As the CPS, we make a direct and urgent appeal to all ‘dignitaries’ and representatives from other nations who have received invitations to these celebrations. We urge you to reject these invitations as a gesture of solidarity with the struggling people of Swaziland. Refuse to be part of celebrating a political scandal and anti-democracy establishment. Attending will translate to bouncing the democracy aspirations of the people of Swaziland.
Refusal to attend will send a powerful message that; the International community will not legitimize authoritarian rule and human rights abuses, democracy and human rights are universal values that transcend national borders, the oppressed people of Swaziland deserve support, not the dictators who oppress them and that there are consequences for maintaining absolute power through repression and violence.
We call upon progressive governments, human rights organizations, and international bodies to; condemn the tinkhundla dictatorship and its 40-year record of oppressor Mswati. Boycott these celebrations and refuse diplomatic participation and support the democratic aspirations of the Swazi people. Join the investigation of human rights violations and hold perpetrators accountable and finally provide assistance to civil society organizations and the pro-democracy movements.
The Communist Party of Swaziland calls upon all oppressed people to reject these celebrations as a powerful demonstration of our unwavering commitment to achieving a genuine democratic dispensation in our country. We make a vow that in the future democratic Swaziland, all those who have benefited from the cruel rule of the absolute monarchy, those who orchestrated human rights violations and political repression, who serviced the machinery of oppression and exploitation, who collaborated with imperialism and foreign exploitation, facilitated the perpetuation of the tinkhundla dictatorship, will be held fully accountable for their crimes against the people of Swaziland.
This is not a threat, but it is a solemn promise and a historical lesson to anyone, in the present and the future, who should know that the people of Swaziland have made a sacred vow. The democracy we sacrifice to achieve will be a turning point in our nation’s history where; No person, institution, or sect will ever impose its will upon the lives of our people; No individual will accumulate absolute power at the expense of the masses; No foreign power will exploit our resources and labour; No system of oppression will be tolerated or permitted to flourish and that justice, equality, and genuine democratic participation will prevail.
The Communist Party of Swaziland makes an urgent and passionate call to the most conscious and revolutionary sections of our population to mobilize immediately and comprehensively. We call upon all patriots, workers, students, intellectuals, and freedom fighters to; carefully consider engaging in comprehensive sabotage activities against the celebrations of shame.
We urge the resistance movement to embark upon strategic and organized sabotage activities designed to participate actively and creatively to disrupt the celebrations from their inception. We must expose the illegitimacy of the tinkhundla dictatorship, demonstrate popular opposition to authoritarian rule, mobilize across the country for sustained resistance and extend the impact of resistance beyond the celebration dates.
This mobilization must be organized through grassroots networks and community structures coordinated with trade unions, youth movements, civil society, and communities. Strategically target the symbols and mechanisms of authoritarian power and be sustained beyond the celebration period as part of ongoing resistance. This will demand discipline and commitment to the principles of democratic struggle.
This mobilization must represent the offensive campaign of the resistance movement of the oppressed people seeking genuine democracy in Swaziland. It is not merely a defensive reaction, it is an active assertion of the people’s power and determination to transform our country from an absolute monarchy to a People’s Republic.
The resistance movement must challenge the legitimacy of the tinkhundla system and absolute monarchy, build broad coalitions of workers, students, youth, and civil society. The movement organize communities for sustained political action and struggle, educate the people about the need for genuine democracy and socialism and also prepare the conditions for fundamental transformation of our political system.
The celebration of 40 years of Mswati’s dictatorship is not a cause for jubilation but an occasion for reflection on the suffering inflicted upon our people and a moment of renewed commitment to liberation.
The CPS reject the tinkhundla dictatorship and the absolute monarchy and call for a democratic Swaziland where power rests with the people, where resources are equitably distributed, and where human dignity and freedom are guaranteed to all.
Down with Mswati dictatorship!

يرفض الحزب الشيوعي في سوازيلاند (CPS) الاحتفال بمرور 40 عامًا على حكم مسواتي، والذي يمثل أبشع تجليات الملكية المطلقة ورأسمالية ونظام «تينخوندلا» الدكتاتوري. وندعو بحزم جماهير سوازيلاند المضطهدة وحركة التضامن الدولي إلى الوقوف صفًا واحدًا لإدانة هذه الاحتفالات التي تمجّد الجرائم السياسية، وانتهاكات حقوق الإنسان، والحكم المعادي للديمقراطية.
على مدى أربعة عقود من الحكم المطلق لمسواتي، كرّس نظام تينخوندلا أحد أكثر الأنظمة السياسية قمعًا في إفريقيا. فقد حافظ هذا النظام بوحشية على التفكيك المنهجي للمؤسسات الديمقراطية، وقمع حرية التعبير، وتجريم المعارضة السياسية، وأمسك بزمام السلطة بقبضة من حديد عبر العنف والترهيب والسيطرة السلطوية.
لقد أثبت نظام تينخوندلا (وهو ملكية مطلقة) أنه ليس سوى مشروع إمبريالي وآلية سيطرة متقنة تتيح للملكية الحفاظ على السلطة المطلقة مع تقديم واجهة زائفة من المشاركة الديمقراطية.
هذا النظام والسلطة التي يُحتفى بها قامت بـ: القضاء على التمثيل الديمقراطي الحقيقي عبر حظر الأحزاب السياسية وتقييد الحريات السياسية منذ عام 1973، وهو ما ورثه مسواتي عام 1986؛ تركيز الثروة والسلطة في أيدي العائلة المالكة والمقرّبين منها؛ استغلال الطبقة العاملة عبر الأجور المتدنية وسوء ظروف العمل وحرمانها من الحقوق العمالية الأساسية؛ حرمان المواطنين من الحريات الأساسية في التجمع والتنظيم والتعبير؛ تكريس اللامساواة الاقتصادية والفقر الذي يطال أغلبية السكان؛ وقمع الإعلام المستقل ومنظمات المجتمع المدني.
قام مسواتي ونظامه القائم على تينخوندلا بتنظيم هذه الاحتفالات عبر توجيه الدعوات إلى «شخصيات» دولية وحكومات أجنبية ومنظمات دولية. وهؤلاء المدعوون ليسوا مراقبين أبرياء، بل هم شركاء مستفيدون من حكم قاسٍ وقمعي دمّر بلدنا.
إن من يحضرون هذه الاحتفالات يتقاسمون المصالح ذاتها مع مسواتي. فقد استفادوا اقتصاديًا من علاقات تجارية واستثمارات استغلالية تُغني الشركات الأجنبية والنخب الحاكمة وتُفقِر العمال السوازيين؛ وقدموا دعمًا سياسيًا لديكتاتورية تينخوندلا عبر الاعتراف الدبلوماسي ومنحها الشرعية الدولية؛ وسهّلوا انتهاكات حقوق الإنسان بالصمت حيال الانتهاكات الموثقة لحرية التعبير والتجمع والتنظيم؛ ومكّنوا الحكم السلطوي عبر التعاون العسكري والأمني؛ وحققوا أرباحًا من معاناة الشعب السوازي من خلال ترتيبات اقتصادية نيوليبرالية/نيواستعمارية.
تمثل هذه القوى الدولية قوى إمبريالية وحلفاءها ممن لهم مصلحة مباشرة في الإبقاء على واقع القمع والاستغلال في سوازيلاند.
لقد ألحق حكم مسواتي خلال العقود الأربعة الماضية أضرارًا لا تُحصى بشعبنا. فقد أدى الدمار الاقتصادي إلى فقر واسع يطال أغلبية السكان، وبطالة وبطالة مقنّعة بين الشباب، وأجور غير كافية وظروف عمل سيئة، ومحدودية الوصول إلى التعليم والرعاية الصحية الجيدين، وتركيز الثروة في أيدي العائلة المالكة ومحيطها.
أما القمع السياسي فقد كبَح بشكل منهجي التعبئة السياسية والاحتجاج، وجرّم الإضرابات والنقابات العمالية. كما تُمارَس الاعتقالات التعسفية والقتل خارج القانون دون مساءلة وتعذيب النشطاء السياسيين كأمر شائع لحرمان الناس من الحقوق والحريات الديمقراطية الأساسية، مع التلاعب بالانتخابات والعمليات الديمقراطية لتلميع الدكتاتورية.
ويتجلى البؤس الاجتماعي في أن حجم السكان لم ينمُ خلال الأربعين عامًا الماضية رغم معدلات المواليد التي كان يفترض أن تجعل عدد السكان ثلاثة أضعاف الحجم الحالي. كما أسهمت المعدلات المرتفعة لفيروس نقص المناعة البشرية/الإيدز وضعف الاستجابة الصحية للأمراض القابلة للعلاج في تقلص السكان. ويُكرَّس العنف والتمييز القائم على النوع الاجتماعي المتجذران في الإقطاع ومبادئ الرأسمالية. كما يُدافَع ثقافيًا عن عمل الأطفال واستغلالهم ويُفرَض بالقوة. ويُعدّ التهجير ونزع الأراضي ممارسة شائعة للسيطرة على سكان الريف، إلى جانب الصدمات النفسية التي خلّفها أربعة عقود من الحكم السلطوي لمسواتي.
وبصفتنا الحزب الشيوعي في سوازيلاند، نوجّه نداءً مباشرًا وعاجلًا إلى جميع «الشخصيات» وممثلي الدول الذين تلقّوا دعوات لهذه الاحتفالات. نحثّكم على رفض هذه الدعوات تضامنًا مع شعب سوازيلاند المكافح. ارفضوا المشاركة في الاحتفاء بفضيحة سياسية ونظام معادٍ للديمقراطية. إن الحضور سيعني تقويض تطلعات شعب سوازيلاند إلى الديمقراطية.
إن رفض الحضور سيوجّه رسالة قوية مفادها: أن المجتمع الدولي لن يشرعن الحكم السلطوي وانتهاكات حقوق الإنسان؛ وأن الديمقراطية وحقوق الإنسان قيم عالمية تتجاوز الحدود الوطنية؛ وأن الشعب السوازي المضطهد يستحق الدعم لا الدكتاتوريين الذين يقمعونه؛ وأن الاستمرار في الحكم المطلق عبر القمع والعنف له عواقب.
وندعو الحكومات التقدمية ومنظمات حقوق الإنسان والهيئات الدولية إلى: إدانة ديكتاتورية تينخوندلا وسجل مسواتي القمعي الممتد 40 عامًا؛ ومقاطعة هذه الاحتفالات ورفض المشاركة والدعم الدبلوماسي؛ ودعم تطلعات الشعب السوازي الديمقراطية؛ والمشاركة في التحقيق في انتهاكات حقوق الإنسان ومحاسبة الجناة؛ وأخيرًا تقديم الدعم لمنظمات المجتمع المدني وحركات الديمقراطية.
كما يدعو الحزب الشيوعي في سوازيلاند جميع المضطهدين إلى رفض هذه الاحتفالات بوصفه تعبيرًا قويًا عن التزامنا الثابت بتحقيق نظام ديمقراطي حقيقي في بلدنا. ونقطع عهدًا بأنه في سوازيلاند الديمقراطية مستقبلًا، سيُحاسَب كاملًا كل من استفاد من الحكم القاسي للملكية المطلقة، ومن دبّر انتهاكات حقوق الإنسان والقمع السياسي، ومن خدم آلة القمع والاستغلال، ومن تعاون مع الإمبريالية والاستغلال الأجنبي، وسهّل استمرار ديكتاتورية تينخوندلا—سيُحاسَبون على جرائمهم بحق شعب سوازيلاند.
هذا ليس تهديدًا، بل وعدًا جادًا ودرسًا تاريخيًا لكل من ينبغي أن يعلم، حاضرًا ومستقبلًا، أن شعب سوازيلاند قد قطع عهدًا مقدسًا. إن الديمقراطية التي نضحّي من أجلها ستكون نقطة تحوّل في تاريخ أمتنا حيث: لا شخص ولا مؤسسة ولا فئة تفرض إرادتها على حياة شعبنا؛ ولا فرد يراكم سلطة مطلقة على حساب الجماهير؛ ولا قوة أجنبية تستغل مواردنا وعملنا؛ ولن يُسمح لأي نظام قمعي بالازدهار؛ وستسود العدالة والمساواة والمشاركة الديمقراطية الحقيقية.
ويوجه الحزب الشيوعي في سوازيلاند نداءً عاجلًا وحارًا إلى أكثر فئات شعبنا وعيًا وثوريةً للتحرك الفوري والشامل. وندعو جميع الوطنيين والعمال والطلبة والمثقفين ومناضلي الحرية إلى النظر بعناية في الانخراط بأنشطة تخريبية شاملة ضد «احتفالات العار».
ونحث حركة المقاومة على الشروع في أنشطة تخريبية استراتيجية ومنظمة، للمشاركة الفاعلة والخلاقة في تعطيل هذه الاحتفالات منذ بدايتها، وفضح لا شرعية ديكتاتورية تينخوندلا، وإظهار الرفض الشعبي للحكم السلطوي، والتعبئة على امتداد البلاد لمقاومة مستدامة، وتوسيع أثر المقاومة إلى ما بعد تواريخ الاحتفال.
ينبغي تنظيم هذه التعبئة عبر الشبكات القاعدية والهياكل المجتمعية بالتنسيق مع النقابات العمالية وحركات الشباب والمجتمع المدني والمجتمعات المحلية. واستهداف رموز وآليات السلطة السلطوية بشكل استراتيجي، والاستمرار بعد فترة الاحتفال كجزء من مقاومة متواصلة. وهذا يتطلب الانضباط والالتزام بمبادئ النضال الديمقراطي.
ويجب أن تمثل هذه التعبئة حملة هجومية لحركة مقاومة الشعب المضطهد الساعي إلى ديمقراطية حقيقية في سوازيلاند. فهي ليست مجرد رد فعل دفاعي، بل تأكيد فعّال لقوة الشعب وإرادته لتحويل بلدنا من ملكية مطلقة إلى جمهورية شعبية.
وعلى حركة المقاومة أن تتحدى شرعية نظام تينخوندلا والملكية المطلقة، وأن تبني تحالفات واسعة من العمال والطلبة والشباب والمجتمع المدني، وأن تنظّم المجتمعات لفعل سياسي ونضالي مستدام، وأن تُثقف الشعب حول ضرورة الديمقراطية الحقيقية والاشتراكية، وأن تُهيّئ شروط التحول الجذري في نظامنا السياسي.
إن الاحتفال بمرور 40 عامًا على ديكتاتورية مسواتي ليس مناسبة للابتهاج، بل لحظة للتأمل في المعاناة التي لحقت بشعبنا وتجديد الالتزام بالتحرر.
يرفض الحزب الشيوعي في سوازيلاند ديكتاتورية تينخوندلا والملكية المطلقة، ويدعو إلى سوازيلاند ديمقراطية تكون فيها السلطة للشعب، وتوزَّع فيها الموارد بعدالة، وتُكفَل فيها الكرامة الإنسانية والحرية للجميع.
